Attitudes Towards Patient Safety in Pre-Hospital Emergency Medical Staff in Mashhad, Iran

Background & Aims: Patient safety is an important component and one of the main elements quality in health care systems. The patient status among pre-hospital Emergency Medical Staff (EMS) Iran unclear there almost no information about adverse complications. Assessing current culture can be a starting point for improving attitudes workers, including EMS who are at forefront managing patients critical conditions. This study aims to survey attitude towards Mashhad, Iran. Materials Methods: descriptive cross-sectional was conducted on 438 full-time with least 6 months operational work experience Mashhad city 2019, were selected by census method. assessment tool Services Safety Attitudes Questionnaire (EMS-SAQ). collected data analyzed SPSS v. 16 using statistics (frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation) inferential (independent t test, analysis variance, Pearson correlation test). significance level set 0.05. Results: It reported that 13.75% had positive safety. mean total score EMS-SAQ 53.55±10.60. most related stress recognition (34.2%) lowest climate perception management (5.7%). There statistically significant relationship between any demographic characteristics overall (P>0.05). Conclusion: not positive. requires further research also taking measures such as holding briefing sessions managers staff, increasing number setting up error reporting system, topics in-service training courses staff.
